Thinking Behind the Name

Orchids are often thought of as delicate or ornamental, but they’re one of the most complex plant families on earth. Many don’t grow in soil at all. Their roots remain exposed, adjusting constantly to their environment and relying on a narrow set of conditions to flourish. What appears simple on the surface is supported by a system that is anything but.

As businesses grow, the same principle applies. Growth brings expansion—but it also requires a more deliberate understanding of what supports it. The conditions, structures, and dependencies that once operated quietly in the background begin to play a more visible role in how the business functions day-to-day. Like an orchid, sustained business growth isn’t accidental. It reflects ongoing care, attention, and an understanding of how the system beneath the surface continues to morph.

Indigo Orchid Advisory is built around a simple idea: I work with companies experiencing rapid or significant change to bring clarity to complex business systems. The focus is on understanding how systems, data, and process workflows connect—so they can support how the business operates and grows. It’s a perspective grounded in what sits beneath the surface, where the conditions for growth are shaped and maintained.

The name Indigo Orchid Advisory is a quiet nod to that complexity. It’s also drawn in part from more than a decade spent caring for my own Hong Kong Orchid tree—a tree that I’ve grown from a sapling in the Sonoran Desert into a tree that is now nearly 30 feet tall and a defining presence in my home and landscape.
